About Bucky
My
life long love affair with guns began with my first Daisy
bb gun, a Model 111-40 Red Ryder with a wood stock and forearm,
made in Plymouth, Michigan around 1950. I also had a Daisy
Targeteer bb pistol, also made in Plymouth, Michigan, around
1950.
As I grew older my interests turned to Firearms. For a
period of 6 years I had my FFL and ran a gun business. My
wife, Jennifer, says it was primarily so I could buy more
for my hobby.
After I retired
from my job as a Lieutenant on the Danbury, Connecticut
Fire Dept. my wife Jenn and I traveled through the United
States, Canada and Alaska. We were looking for a place to
relocate after living in Danbury, Connecticut for 50 years.
We made our huge move to Capr Coral, FL., where the year
round summer weather, palm trees and slower pace of life
appealed to us.
We became life members in the Southwest Florida Sportsman’s
Association Inc. and still maintain my Endowment Membership
in the NRA.
After
the move I rediscovered my Daisy spring air gun which renewed
my interest in pneumatic air pistols and rifles. I began
doing research online about all forms of Daisys : Model
104 and 21 double barrel rifle,Model 25 pumps, Model 111-40
Red Ryder, Model 1894 old western style lever action guns,
model 1938 Red Ryders, and the new Model B guns. I also
looked at old and obsolete guns, pellet guns, antique guns,
new, used, and reconditioned guns.
I began selling my firearms to buy, sell, and trade for
airguns, parts, pellets, bb’s, CO2 cartridges, working
and nonworking Daisy bb guns. At this point you could say
my heart belonged to Daisy. With all this buying, selling,
and trading I ended up with a lot of BB guns that were non
working and needed service. Now I needed somebody who could
provide repairs, parts, seals, and who could also restore
BB rifles and pistols.
I called Daisy
in Rogers, Arkansas. They recommended Ron Sauls of Bryan
And Associates in Anderson, South Carolina. In addition to
becoming good friends he also is my mentor. I went to spend
time with him so he could teach me how to repair, restore
and recondition Daisy spring air and pneumatic rifles and
pistols. With 45 years in the business, Ron Sauls has decided
to relinquish some of the Daisy repairs, service and parts
to me.He wll remaining available to guide and help all of
us, as usual .This will also gives him time to work on his
pet projects.
I am currently
advertising and trying to get new business on my own
and will attend several Air Gun Shows this year. This is
a seven day a week hobby, but I love it. No matter how you
spell Daisy- whether it be Daisey or Dazzy or any other
way you can think of – it all means quality to us.
